Basic cooking course of Istrian cuisine in La Parenzana

The owners of Casa romantica la Parenzana, small hotel named after the narrow gauge railway Parenzana connecting Istrias inland at the begin of 20 century (today bike and hiking trail), invite you to attend a cooking course in Istria.

Our cooking course will start with a visit to one of the best olive oil producers in Istria. We will taste different sort of virgin olive oil and learn about them. Our olive oil producer will give us some tips for everyday use. In the evening our chef Marija Štimec will prepare a rustic istrian dinner on the open fireplace.

On Saturday, after abundant buffet breakfast, we will learn the basics of the istrian cuisine. Early risers are welcome join the landlord and do the groceries on the local green market. Together we will prepare a 4 course typical istrian meal. The landlord will join us at table to enjoy everything that we have prepared.

In the afternoon we will promenade near the see, or just enjoy a cappuccino in one of the numerous Cafes in Novigrad. After that we will visit a famous vintner and taste the typical sorts of Istrian wine.

In the evening our chef will prepare a light fish dinner. Our landlord will suggest the right choice of wine.

The bike trail Parenzana offers entertainment for all ages. Different routes will provide enjoyment for adult and children.

Rich offer of traditional regional delicacies, accompanied by the best istrian wines will represent a variety of special treats.

A special mixture made of distance from the city and particularly the beautiful nature of the region will provide an experience for your senses. Variety of spring messengers will welcome you on the Parenzana path, either on your bike ride or pleasant walk. The extended Easter weekend will be a short vacation for you, full of pleasure and enjoyment.

Wild asparagus festival

The owners of Casa romantica la Parenzana, small hotel named after the narrow gauge railway Parenzana connecting Istrias inland at the begin of 20 century (today bike and hiking trail), invite you to spend a luxury gourmet weekend in Istria

Wine tasting in the "Parenzana hall" is a promising prelude to this gastronomic experience. Master chef Marija Štimec will prepare a rustic dinner on the open fireplace.

On Saturday, after abundant buffet breakfast, we will be heading towards the green heart of Istria for "picking of wild asparagus". In a relaxed walk we will get acquainted with the beauties of the Valley of the River Mirna and its medieval hilltop towns. Around noon we will stop for a hearty istrian snack on a terrace with a beautiful view on the istrian hilly countryside. Down to our whim we will spend the afternoon promenading near the see, or having a cup of cappuccino in one of the numerous Cafes in Novigrad.

In the evening we will prepare our dinner with wild asparagus together, our chef will reveal you some secrets of the istrian cuisine. After that, we will enjoy the prepared meal. Our landlord will suggest the right choice of wine.
